The Americus Times-Recorder
On Feb. 1 Bobby and I were having lunch in Granny's Kitchen when we saw friends that we had not seen in some time. We saw Frank and Ginny Freeman of Americus, and Frank Freeman Jr. and his wife Kathy of Gainesville, who were visiting with his daddy Frank Sr. and family and his grandmother, Ethel Miller of Magnolia Manor in Americus; Jerry and Nita Battle of Americus (as everyone knows Jerry was raised here in Ellaville), Ken and Anita Fouche Huddleston of Americus (Anita was raised here in Schley County as well). Also Jimmy Lawhorn of Ellaville was having lunch, and Herb and Joan Mason of Americus. Joan and I both worked with the Red Cross years ago.
People don't really realize how blessed they are to have friends. Friends are special in my book. I've always loved people and I hope that my love to others make them feel as I did when they all walked up to speak to us.
Thank you for being a good friend.
Home from hospital
Jerry Franklin has returned home Jan. 28 from the Phoebe Sumter Medical Center where he had been a patient for four days.
Jerry aid that he started getting sick on Jan. 13 and was taken to the hospital on Jan. 25.
He told me that it would take him from six to nine months to really get better. This is a condition that you don't hear much about. He said that he felt a little better the day I spoke to him.
So let's all pray for Jerry to have a speedy recovery.
City sidewalks
The City of Ellaville is installing new sidewalks from Ebenezer Road through Hill Street and will cross Ga. Highway 26 West until its runs into the old Buena Vista Road.
Debbie Pilcher, City manager, said it will help with the drainage problems.
Work started the end of January and it will take about 30 days to finish. Rain might have something to do with them finishing on time.
