Community saddened by death of local resident
Our community was so sad to have heard of the death of Jeanette Halstead Peede. Jeanette was a very active person in our community. She was a person who was involved in most everything here. She never minded helping anyone if she possible could.
Jeanette was a member of Ellaville United Methodist Church where she was very active. She was also a member of the Council of Safety Chapter of Daughter of the American Revolution. She was Grand Worthy Matron of the Order of the Eastern Star and a charter member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post 191. She was a former member of the Rainbow Garden Club, a member of the Ellaville Bridge Club, and attended the Schley Senior Center.
She served three terms as mayor of Ellaville. She was and the only woman who served in that capacity and she did a great job
Jeanette was living at Perfect Care in Americus at the time of her death. She never met a stranger and was truly a beloved person throughout Ellaville. Our love and prayers go out to her family.
Mothers Day is day to remember
Sunday is a day that everyone should always remember and that's Mothers Day. If your mother is still living you are surely blessed to have her to put your arms around and to tell her how much you love her. If she has passed away, what precious memories you have and what special things she told you to do when you were a child.
I wish each and every mother a Happy Mothers Day.
Steve Harrington undergoes surgery
On April 21, Steve Arrington had knee replacement surgery after which he was moved to Magnolia Manor for physical therapy.
He seems to be doing well. It will take a while, but he will be able to be out and about before he knows it.
Let's all keep Steve in our prayers as he recovers.
