• Firefighters responded twice to a malfunctioning alarm at Kids R Us, 125 Lonnie Lane.

• Firefighters responded to the Easter Morning Subdivision area to two malicious false calls.

Accident

• Police investigated a traffic accident shortly after 5 p.m. Wednesday at Oglethorpe Avenue near Wanda Way.

According to the accident report, Paula Joiner Well of Oglethorpe, driving a 1997 Ford Escort, was stopped on Oglethorpe near Wanda Way. Meanwhile, Erin Elizabeth High of 808 Upper River Road, driving a 2007 Toyota Highlander, was traveling north on Oglethorpe behind Well’s vehicle. When Well stopped behind a vehicle making a left turn, High’s SUV struck Well’s vehicle in the rear.

Well was taken by Sumter EMS to Sumter Regional East.

High is charged with following to closely.
