Accident
• Police investigated a traffic accident shortly after 5 p.m. Wednesday at Oglethorpe Avenue near Wanda Way.
According to the accident report, Paula Joiner Well of Oglethorpe, driving a 1997 Ford Escort, was stopped on Oglethorpe near Wanda Way. Meanwhile, Erin Elizabeth High of 808 Upper River Road, driving a 2007 Toyota Highlander, was traveling north on Oglethorpe behind Well’s vehicle. When Well stopped behind a vehicle making a left turn, High’s SUV struck Well’s vehicle in the rear.
Well was taken by Sumter EMS to Sumter Regional East.

Arrests
• Four juveniles were charged with affray and aggravated assault at Staley Middle School, 915 N. Lee St.
• William Charles Moncus, 17, of 212 S. Bond St., Plains is charged with underage possession of tobacco products and false report of a crime.
• A juvenile was charged with disorderly conduct at a North Lee Street residence.
• Alexander Jordan, 22, of 1203 E. Furlow St., Americus is charged with non-compliance.
• Shaneequa Chantea Lewis, 21, of Marietta is charged with non-compliance and misdemeanor possession of marijuana.
• Jeremy Jamarr Watts, 18, of Stone Mountain is charged with non-compliance.
Incidents
• Police were called to the Sumter Humane Society where they started an investigation into a case of cruelty to animals.
• Shoplifting was reported at Chevron Food Mart, 1402 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd.
• Simple battery was reported at Sneakers, 515 E. Forsyth St.
• An injured child was reportedly treated at Sumter Regional East.
• False report of a crime was reported in the Easter Morning Subdivision.
• Criminal trespass was reported at an Academy Street residence.
• Terroristic threats were reported at an Oak Avenue residence.

Accidents
• State troopers investigated a traffic accident shortly before 6:30 p.m. Tuesday on Ga. Highway 3 in Schley County.
According to the accident report, Manuel Gomez-Gomez, 26, of 205-A Sun Valley Drive, Americus, driving a 1997 Honda Civic, and Gilberto C. Palma, 26, of 704 Tripp St., Americus, driving a 1993 Lincoln Town Car, were both traveling south on Ga. 3. Palma had stopped for traffic waiting to make a left turn onto County Road 113. Gomez-Gomez was unable to stop before striking Palma’s vehicle in the rear.
A passenger in Palma’s vehicle, Hector Hernandez, 33, of 1848 S. Lee St., Americus, was taken by Schley EMS to Sumter Regional East.
Gomez-Gomez is charged with driving while unlicensed, no proof of insurance and following too closely. Palma is charged with driving while unlicensed.
• State troopers investigated a traffic accident at 6:49 a.m.. Thursday on Ga. Highway 355 in Marion County.
According to the accident report, Monica D. Rease, 37, of Box Spring, driving a 1993 Toyota Corolla, was traveling north when she steered to the right to avoid a deer. She lost control of the car which traveled off the roadway onto the east shoulder before striking a ditch with its right side. The car then traveled across the roadway to the west shoulder striking a guardrail face with its front.
Rease was taken by Marion EMS to Columbus Medical Center.
• State troopers investigated a traffic accident shortly before 10 p.m. May 2 on Ga. Highway 27 in Sumter County.
According to the accident report, Sharon Ann Johnson, 30, of 6-B Peach Circle, Americus, was steering a disabled 1988 Acura Legend which was being pushed east, while Spencer Ray Coleman, 25, of Temple, driving a 1995 Chevrolet S-10 pickup truck, was also traveling east.
Coleman told the investigating trooper that an oncoming vehicle was flashing its headlights attempting to warn oncoming traffic of the hazards, and he was blinded by the headlights. The truck’s right front struck the rear of the Acura after which the Acura rotated 180 degrees clockwise before coming to rest in the south ditch. The truck came to a controlled stop on the south shoulder.
The person pushing the vehicle was not injured, according to the report. Johnson, however, was taken by Sumter EMS to Sumter Regional East.

Arrests
• Sharketa Parks, 39, of Albany is charged with two counts of deposit account fraud. She was jailed.
• Tommy Oneal Gamble, 23, of 505 Fieldstone Drive, Americus is charged with burglary. He was jailed.
• Jason Lawrence Stephens, 34, of 701 Park Row, Americus was arrested on a bench warrant. He was jailed.
• Leroy Bethel, 22, of 138 N. Village Drive, Americus is charged with disorderly conduct. He was released on summons to appear in court.
Citation
• Joshua Antonio Jackson, 23, of Plains is charged with expired tag.
Incidents
• Theft was reported at Lopez Quick Stop, Plains.
• A domestic disturbance was reported at an Old Dawson Road residence.
• A Katherine Lane, Leslie resident told authorities her puppies were missing. They were later found.
• A suspicious vehicle was reported on Industrial Boulevard.
• A juvenile problem was reported in the Arlington Drive area.
• A Lakeridge Drive resident told authorities someone had keyed his Jeep.
