AMERICUS

Mrs. Hilda Bullard Murphy, age 88, died Wednesday morning March 19, 2008 at Magnolia Manor Nursing Center. Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Friday March 21, 2008 at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church, with the Rev. Andy Taunton officiating with burial to follow at 2 p.m. at Oakview Cemetery in Camilla, Ga. Serving as active pallbearers are her nephews. The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. today, Thursday, March 20, 2008, and at other times the residence of David F. Murphy and Brenda W. Murphy at 212 Glenwood Road, Americus.

Mrs. Murphy was born Oct. 22, 1919 in Mitchell County, the daughter of the late Webb Bullard Sr. and India Manry Bullard. She was retired from Manhattan Shirt Company, formerly of Americus, where she worked in the collar department. After that, she worked for Allied Department Stores and in the Southland Academy lunch room, before her illness.  She was a member of the First Baptist Church of Americus, but was attending Pleasant Grove Baptist Church.

Mrs. Murphy is survived by two sons and daughters-in-law, David F. Murphy and Brenda W. of Americus and Webb B. Murphy and Pennie G. of Ellaville, Ga.; five brothers and sisters-in-law; W.W. Bullard Jr. and Betty of Camilla, Ga., Fred Bullard and Marion also of Camilla, Ga.,Walter Bullard and Lilly Mae of Sale City, Ga., Harold Bullard of Leesburg, Ga. and Louie Bullard and Bobbie of Macon, Ga. Also surviving is three grandchildren, Amy Landreth and husband Clint of Richland, Ga., Melanie Copeland and Carlton Phillips both of Americus, Ga.; five great -grandchildren, Ryan Landreth and Cole Landreth of Richland, Ga., Sydney Copeland, Maddy Copeland and Haley Phillips all of Americus. Also surviving is a number of nieces and nephews.

Mrs. Murphy was preceded in death by her beloved husband Jack F. Murphy.

Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Americus and Sumter County Inc. P.O. Box 1434 Americus, Ga. 31709, or to Pleasant Grove Baptist Church 1256 Hwy. 280 East Americus, Ga. 31709.
