Georgia Southwestern State University (GSW) President Kendall Blanchard, Ph.D., and South Georgia Technical College (SGTC) President Sparky Reeves presented Earl and Barbara Gammage of Gammage Print Shop with one of the first small “Two Great Choices – One Great Community” partnership signs to display in their business recently.
GSW and SGTC have combined forces with the City of Americus and local business leaders to begin promoting the positive educational opportunities offered in the area and are using the slogan, “Two Great Choices – One Great Community!”
The two post-secondary institutions have purchased 200 1 ft. by 2 ft., indoor/outdoor full-color, two-sided signs with the GSW and SGTC logos and the slogan “Two Great Choices – One Great Community” printed on the sides. Businesses and individuals who would like to display the signs, signifying their support for this project, can contact Stephen Snyder at GSW or Su Ann Bird at SGTC.
Reeves and Blanchard unveiled the “Two Great Choices – One Great Community” project highlighting the educational and economic impact of the two schools on this area during the Americus-Sumter County Chamber of Commerce annual banquet on the SGTC campus recently.
They are also encouraging individuals, businesses, and industries to join in this joint effort to promote our area as a college town.
Earl and Barbara Gammage of Gammage Print Shop in Americus are strong supporters of both institutions and were the first individuals to make a contribution to the “Two Great Choices – One Great Community” fund that was designed to promote this idea and encourage local young people to attend college at either GSW or SGTC.
“Barbara and I are pleased to be able to support this initiative,” said Earl Gammage. “We believe in Americus, we believe in Georgia Southwestern and we believe in South Georgia Tech. We hope that others will follow our example and help us promote our area because we are fortunate to have ‘Two Great Choices in our Great Community.’”
Individuals or businesses who would like to make a tax-deductible contribution to the “Two Great Choices – One Great Community” fund may send donations to “Two Great Choices – One Great Community,” P.O. Box 6102, Americus, Georgia 31709.
