The White House Commission on Remembrance is working with Burton Enterprises of Americus, a comprehensive marketing and merchandising firm, to promote awareness and commemorate the National Moment of Remembrance.

Burton Enterprises has worked with the Commission to create t-shirts to aid in the funding of the Gold Medal of Remembrance, a program that aims to give every child, who has lost a parent on 9-11 or in the Global War on Terrorism, a medal in recognition of their sacrifice on behalf of a grateful nation.

“We’re honored to be working with the White House Commission on Remembrance to help promote awareness of The National Moment of Remembrance and assist with the Gold Medal of Remembrance program,” said Ed Burton, president of Burton Enterprises.

“We got involved with the program to be a small part of helping honor each child with a medal so that as they grow older, they'd have something to remember that their parent was a hero and didn't die in vain.”

Director of the White House Commission on Remembrance, Carmella LaSpada said, “We’re excited about Burton Enterprises helping to promote awareness of The National Moment of Remembrance and the merchandise they designed to aid in the funding of the Gold Medal of Remembrance program.

The Gold Medal of Remembrance is a very special memento that recognizes and honors the children who have recently lost a parent in service to this country. It effectively reminds all Americans that casualties are found on the home front as well as on the battlefield. Designed by the Institute of Heraldry, which provides special services to the U.S. armed forces, federal agencies and the Office of the President, this uniquely beautiful medal and its associated certificate are a truly special American tradition.

The Gold Medal of Remembrance denotes optimism and high achievement and embodies the emotional riches gained from a close relationship with family and friends, according to the White House Commission on Remembrance. The medal’s flame symbolizes remembrance, hope and freedom. The laurel wreath is the ancient symbol of honor and victory. The golden flame within a star is the official emblem of the Commission on Remembrance. This medal was produced by Ira Green Inc.

In the last two years, over 200 Gold Medals were presented to children of fallen service members from Operation Enduring Freedom and Iraqi Freedom. The first 180 of these were imparted at the Time of Remembrance Tribute on the National Mall in Washington, D.C., in 2006. Others are being given at special ceremonies across the nation and overseas throughout the year. The Commission on Remembrance aims to ensure every child in our country who has lost a mother or father receives this precious medal.

The National Moment of Remembrance, formally established by Congress, asks Americans to pause and unite at 3 p.m., local time, on Memorial Day (May 26) in a moment of shared remembrance for those who gave their lives in service to our country. At 3 p.m. on Memorial Day, Major League baseball games halt, Amtrak train whistles sound across the country and hundreds of other nationwide participants remind Americans to pause for the Memorial Day National Moment of Remembrance.

Burton Enterprises has also created the official National Memorial Day Parade t-shirts for The American Veterans Center which organizes and funds the parade in Washington, D.C. Proceeds benefit The American Veterans Center. All shirts are available online at www.americanveteranscenter.org and ballowax.com.

Burton Enterprises’ Internet address is www.burtonent.com.
