Commemorative Bricks: For a donation, you can get your own piece of history. Imprinted and engraved bricks from Sumter Regional Hospital that was hit by the March 1, 2007, tornado are to the general public. All proceeds go towardsd the rebuilding of the new, permanent hospital. A $25 donation, you get an imprinted brick; for $50 donation, an imprinted brick and printed SRH timeline, and for $100 donation, an engraved brick, printed SRH timeline and acrylic case. Make checks and money orders payable to Sumter Regional Hospital Foundation and mail to Marketing & Public Relations Department,100 Wheatley Drive, Americus. Sunshine Club: The Sunshine Club meets from 11:30-1 p.m. today at the Sumter County Agricultural Center, 331 U.S. Highway 19 South. Everyone is welcome to bring a friend and a covered dish. Call Mary Suggs 824-5149, Trish Harvey 928-5616 or Mary Comer 931-5965 for more information.

Commission Meeting: The City of Americus Planning and Zoning Commission has rescheduled its meeting to 4 p.m. today in the second-floor meeting room of the Municipal Building. The meeting is open to the public.

Ribbon Cutting: The Americus-Sumter County Chamber of Commerce hosts a ribbon cutting for Walgreens, 733 Forsyth St., at 11 a.m. today.

Joint Authority: There regular quarterly meeting of the Schley-Sumter-Macon Joint Development Authorityis 4 p.m. Thursday at South Georgia Technical College in the Pope Center. The meeting is open to the public.

 

Onion Sale: Sumter County 4-H Clubs are selling Vidalia onions. All proceeds support Sumter County 4-H Club’s Summer Programs including camp scholarships, 4-H’er insurance fees and other programming supplies. To order your bag, visit the Sumter County Extension Office, 331 U.S. Highway 19 South in Americus. Money will be collected at the time of order and onions will arrive May 13.
