Smoke Testing: The City of Americus is rehabilitating the sewer system and will conduct smoke testing of the colletion system to check for leaks. The smoke you might see is non-toxic, creates no fire hazard and will harm children, pets or plants. People with severe asthma should avoid breating any smoke to avoid irritation. Shut-ins should be notified of the testing. If smoke enters your house, report it to the crew conducting the test to help locate the source while the test is in progress. Commemorative Bricks: For a donation, you can get your own piece of history. Imprinted and engraved bricks from Sumter Regional Hospital that was hit by the March 1, 2007, tornado are to the general public. All proceeds go towardsd the rebuilding of the new, permanent hospital. A $25 donation, you get an imprinted brick; for $50 donation, an imprinted brick and printed SRH timeline, and for $100 donation, an engraved brick, printed SRH timeline and acrylic case. Make checks and money orders payable to Sumter Regional Hospital Foundation and mail to Marketing & Public Relations Department,100 Wheatley Drive, Americus. Board Meeting: The Middle Flint Regional Development Center Board of Directors meets at 12:30 p.m. today at Granny’s Kitchen. The meeting is open to the public.

Red Cross Class: The Middle Flint Chapter American Red Cross sponsors Community First Aid & Safety class from 9 a.m.-4 p.m. Saturday at the Middle Flint Office. Cost is $50. Space is limited. Call 924-2026.
Class of 1988: The Americus High School Class of 1988 holds its 20-year class reunion June 20-21. The weekend kicks off on Friday night with an event at the Windsor Hotel, followed by a family picnic on Saturday at Georgia Veterans Memorial State Park. Informal party will follow on Saturday night at The Carnegie. Cost for the weekend’s events is $40/adult.
