Funeral services for Mr. McArthur Colbert of Americus, Ga., will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, June 20, 2009, at Old Shady Grove Baptist Church with the Rev. Jessie Watts officiating. Burial will follow at the Eastview Cemetery.
Mr. McArthur Colbert was born on Jan. 27, 1943, in Americus, Ga., to the late Mr. Charlie Colbert and Mrs. Mary Ellen Colbert. He received his education from the Old Shady Grove School in Sumter County, Georgia. At an early age, McArthur accepted Jesus Christ as his personal savior and joined the Old Shady Grove Baptist Church. For 50 years, he was employed with Gray USA Ready Mix as a truck driver. He retired in August 2008.
Mr. Colbert died on Sunday morning, June 14, 2009, at the HCA Palmyra Medical Center in Albany, Ga.
McArthur will be sorrowfully missed and remembered by his devoted companion of 35 years, Ms. Delois Angry; a loving son, Mr. Antonio (LaShanta Wade) Colbert; the joys of his life, his grandchildren, TreDarrian, Antonio Lamar Jr., Jakivius, Sierra, Antonio and Simone Colbert, all of Americus, Ga.; three stepchildren, Mr. Eddie (Vanessa) Gore of Atlanta, Ga., Mrs. Valerie (LaKista) McCuller and Mr. Darrol Gore both of Americus, Ga.; two brothers, Mr. Charlie (Mary) Colbert of Orlando, Fla., and Mr. Willie (Ernestine) Colbert of Andersonville, Ga.; one sister, Ms. Came Robuck of Royston, Ga.; six stepgrandchildren that he loved dearly, Jonathan, Kennedy and Sanova Gore of Atlanta, Ga., LaKista II, Myla and JaKobe McCuller of Americus, Ga.; one brother-in-law, Mr. Jack Alford of Americus, Ga.; one devoted niece, Mrs. Eddie Mae King; two special friends, Mr. Lee Kleckley and Mr. Armick Oliver of Americus, Ga.; and a host of loving nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
