Frank Sinatra has a song called, “The Best Things in Life Are Free,” and in it he sings, “The moon belongs to everyone, The best things in life are free. The stars belong to everyone, They gleam there for you and me.
The flowers in spring, the robins that sing, The moonbeams that shine, they're yours, they're mine. And love can come to everyone, The best things in life are free.”
Koinonia Farms has taken that concept one step further by holding a free yard sale with monetary donations collected to benefit the Community Service Ministry in Americus.
The yard sale, which will take place on Saturday Sept. 6, from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., according to Jake Warren, Marketing manager, “is just our way of getting rid of some excessive stuff, items, that we have.”
“Part of our intention at the farms is to live as Christians, a simple lifestyle,” said Warren.
“We thought this would be a great opportunity for Koinonia and the community of Americus to share together by giving to those in need,” he added.
“This is the first year we’ve done it, and we hope for it to become a yearly event in Americus for the community,” said Warren.
All material donations are tax deductible, and Koinonia will pick up large items prior the yard sale.
“Even though the items will be given away, anyone can give monetary donations, which will be collected on that day to support the Community Service Ministry,” said Warren.
“And 50 percent of all sales generated in the Koinonia Welcome Center on Sept. 6 will also go to support the CSM,” said Warren.
