Americus connection
The artwork of Americus artists Bruce Case, Maureen Smith along with Buena Vista artist Helena Meek is represented at the 2009 Columbus Art Guild's Members' Exhibition show at the Columbus Public Library, CB&T Synovous Room. The exhbit is open to the public through SUNDAY during normal library hours. Awards this year include Purchase Award, Best of Show second and third place, the First Timer Award and Members' Choice Award.
James LaRussa of Americus is dancing in “Pinocchio” with the Atlanta Ballet Oct. 24 & 25 at the Cobb Energy Center. He dances the role of the real boy, Pinocchio. Tickets are available at www.atlantaballet.com ot 404-892-3033.
Celebration Program
The Americus Alumni Chapter of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority Inc. honors eight outstanding men and women at a Community Servant-Leaders Celebration program and reception at 6 p.m. SATURDAY at the John M. Pope Technology Center at South Georgia Technical College. Jimmy Green, Marvin Harris, Larry Jackson, Teresa Mansfield, Annie Bell Moss, Elbert Solomon and Karl Wilson, all of Americus, and Maggarie McCluster of Ellaville will be honored for their history of service given in their communities. The program also serves as a fundraiser to support the community service activities of the sorority. Tickets for the event are available from sorority members for a donation of $10 each.
