Volunteer appreciation day held at NHS

From Staff Reports
The Americus Times-Recorder

PLAINS

The staff at Jimmy Carter National Historic Site recently honored its Volunteers-In-Parks (VIPs) at a Volunteer Appreciation Luncheon. During the past year, volunteers at the Jimmy Carter National Historic Site contributed 1,554 hours and participated in numerous activities including giving demonstrations at the Boyhood Farm, greeting visitors at the Information desk and assisting in various administrative duties.

More than 370 National Parks currently use volunteers who range in age from young children to senior citizens and represent various ethnic and social backgrounds. VIPs bring valuable talents and skills that enrich the park experience for the visitors.

If you would like more information on the VIP program and learn how you can make a difference in helping people connect with their national parks, visit www.nps.gov/volunteer or Jimmy Carter National Historic Site at www.nps.gov/jica. or call the 824-4104.
