Coffee and more at Adore Just a Cup

While there is much discussion about the origin of coffee, most experts agree that the birthplace of coffee was in Africa. Coffee can be found in most restaurants, gas stations and even at the hospital in Americus. There is an organic coffee house where beans are roasted, and now, there is “Adore Just A Cup,” Americus’ newest business.
Owned and operated by Arhul Kaushia and his wife, Vasi,”Adore Just A Cup,” opened November 12 in the Winn Dixie Shopping Plaza off of Crawford Street in Americus.
Kaushia, who’s no stranger to the “business world” in Americus, as he owns two hotels, The Hampton and Holiday Inn, declares himself to be a “coffee-a-holic.”
Which is a big part of the reason, according to “Adore Just A Cup” frequent customer, Jay Trujillo, an Americus resident transplanted from California, that the coffee at the coffee bar is so good. “He knows his product. The location is good for me, as I work next door, and this is a nice atmosphere. It feels like a coffee place, but what makes it so good is the fact that he knows his product.”
Kaushia laughs, “I have to have about 8 to 10 cups a day.”
“To be honest, I have been in the food and beverage industry for a long time, and I like this,” he gestures toward the machines.
“I have been here for 10 years. I came to Atlanta from Australia to work in a hotel, then I got married and moved here,” explained Kaushia.
“I started talking to the people who stayed in our hotel and from their feedback, realized there was need for something like this here.” Kaushia serves coffees, teas, and baked items in the shop, and is constantly changing the menu, to fit “my customers’ desires.”
“I had a customer come in today and ask for 1/2 cappuccino and 1/2 coffee, and she liked it, got her boss to try it, and her boss came and got one. One of my frequent customers came in one day and ordered her drink a specific way and it was good, I put it on the menu, and named it after her,” Kaushia said.
Kim Humber, Americus, works in Andersonville, but comes to “Adore Just A Cup,” because, “It is easy to get to, and they are quick and offer nice service. I like al of the coffee.”
Kaushia just smiles. “I was trained at the Taj in Mumbai.” This hotel was the very one that attacked less than a month ago by militants who brought terror to the staff and guests.
His voice becomes low, “It was very emotional for me to watch that on television. I worked there for over a year, and I had sweet memories of that place.”
“And I could picture where all of that was going on,” said Kaushia as he recalled the terrorist threats.
“In fact, it was with the Taj Mahal hotels that I received my training in food and beverage industry,” said Kaushia.
On “Adore Just a Cup,” Kaushia said, “After seeing this Plaza rebuild, I decided this would be a good location for this. People can come and sit, and drink coffee or tea, watch television, and meet, or even access the wireless Internet.”
