Americus Garden Inn B&B recipe chosen by UGA Food Services

Susan Egelseer’s Georgia Peach Bread recipe served at special UGA event

AMERICUS — “A Sunset Breakfast — Dawn Inspired Dishes Served at Dusk” was served by The University of Georgia Food Services recently as a special event featuring menu items from recipes of select bed and breakfast inns across the nation. The Americus Garden Inn Bed and Breakfast recipe for Georgia peach bread was one of only two recipes chosen from the state of Georgia.

The focus of the event was to give students the dining experience of breakfast at bed and breakfasts from across the United States.  There were 34 recipes from prominent bed and breakfast locations, including the Americus Garden Inn Bed and Breakfast.

A beautiful commemorative plate was presented to Susan Egelseer of the Americus Garden Inn in appreciation for her delicious recipe.

According to J. Michael Floyd, executive director of The University of Georgia Food Services, “This event will be entered in the National Association of College & University Food Services Loyal E. Horton Dining Awards Contest in mid-April competing against more than 600 other institutions.”

The University of Georgia Food Services chefs and food production teams serve 8,300 students daily in their four dining commons. 

Added Floyd, “Eighteen of our past special events have received national recognition and accolades, and we are hopeful that the Sunset Breakfast event will be added to this list of honors.”

In total, The University of Georgia Food Services has received 73 National Awards. 

“What an honor to be included in such a special event by the award winning team at UGA. We wish them the best in the contest,” said Egelseer.
