Community to worship together, feed the needy

AMERICUS — The community has the opportunity to worship together next week as the Sumter Area Ministerial Association (SAMA) sponsors the annual Thanksgiving Revival Services.

At 7 p.m. Monday, Restoration Church at 1213 Douglas Circle hosts Brother Jeffrey Brannon of St. Andrews Presbyterian Church as speaker. At 7 p.m. Tuesday, Minister Minnie Clark of Breath of Life Church speaks at the Americus Mennonite Fellowship at 409 E. Hill St.

This year’s theme is “One Body in Christ, Revived in Thanksgiving” from Colossians 3: 15.

The public invited to both services and everyone is asked to bring a bag of non-perishable items to assist in restocking the SAMA Food Pantry.

Food donations and volunteers are needed for the annual Community Thanksgiving Dinner to be held from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. on Thanksgiving Day at Lenny’s Market on Hampton Street, hosted by Open Hands Ministry.

Money is needed to purchase the carry-out trays, to pay for gas for delivery to shut-ins, for ingredients for the meal and to reimburse the cook. Volunteers are needed to prepare carry-outs, deliver the meals to shut-ins and clean up afterwards. Volunteers should report at 9 a.m. or 11 a.m. The dinner will be served at noon to anyone in need. Shut-ins need to make a reservation for delivery by calling the numbers listed below.

To volunteer or to donate, call Annie Moss at 924-7072 or 942-2830.
