Local B&B teams with Cafe Campesino for special blend

AMERICUS — Americus Garden Inn Bed and Breakfast, in collaboration with Café Campesino, has developed a special blend of French roast coffee to delight coffee drinkers and to benefit the Sumter Historic Trust Revolving Fund.

The Americus Garden Inn was looking for a coffee roaster interested in developing a new blend especially for the Bed and Breakfast. At the same time, “We wanted to do something to give back to our community” said Susan Egelseer, Americus Garden Inn owner. “What better way to accomplish this goal than to partner with another local business with similar interests.”

Café Campesino, located in Americus, was the perfect partner.  Working together, the Americus Garden Inn B&B Signature Blend was created using a unique blend of Nicaragua French roast, Peru Viennese roast and Mexico Full City roast beans.

“Café Campesino is delighted to be a part of a project that benefits the local community” said Tripp Pomeroy, Café Campesino president and general manager.

“We understand the importance of historic preservation and the costs associated with these types of projects” said Kim Egelseer, Americus Garden Inn owner.  “We wanted to create a way for people to contribute to the Sumter Historic Trust Revolving Fund to allow the Trust to move forward on more projects in our community.”

The Revolving Fund monies are used exclusively for the rehabilitation and preservation of historic properties here in Sumter County.

According to Charles Crisp, chairman of the Sumter Historic Trust Revolving Fund Committee, “I believe the Revolving Fund can be a key element in making the Americus Historic District a real showcase for our community.”

The latest project funded through the Revolving Fund is the Hancock-Williams-Eldridge House at 202 W. College St., which has been completely renovated and is now available for purchase. The house, built circa 1853, is a rare antebellum example of Gothic Revival architecture.

A portion of all proceeds from the sale of the Americus Garden Inn B&B Signature blend coffee will go to the Sumter Historic Trust Revolving Fund.  This special blend can be purchased at Café Campesino located at 725 Spring St., Americus or online at
