San Antonio, Texas — Air Force Airman Trexell T. Bailey graduated from basic military training at Lackland Air Force Base, San Antonio, Texas. The airman completed an intensive, eight-week program that included training in military discipline and studies, Air Force core values, physical fitness, and basic warfare principles and skills. Airmen who complete basic training earn four credits toward an associate in applied science degree through the Community College of the Air Force. Bailey is the son of Abby Bailey of Cumming and Robert Bailey Jr. of Americus. He is a 2011 graduate of South Forsyth High School, Cumming.

1st Baptist hosts Community-wide Christmas Celebration
For many years, Minister of Music at First Baptist Church, Keith Parks, has taken the church’s music choirs, along with staging props, sound systems, etc., to the Rylander Theatre and presented what was called “Merry Christmas Americus.” This year, the Sanctuary Choir and instrumentalists will present a program of Christmas music at 6 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 15, in the church’s sanctuary at 221 S. Lee St. with a community reception to follow in the church’s fellowship hall.
