Pick-up driver in fatal wreck won't face homicide charges

AMERICUS — According to Trooper Billy Cope, Gregory Leonard will not face vehicular homicide charges. Leonard was charged with DUI in a crash that killed an Americus man on Saturday.

Cope said the Special Collision Reconstruction Team's investigation included witness testimony and surveillance video from a convenience store located at the intersection where the accident occurred.

Cope said the pick-up driven by Leondard "had the green light" and made the turn into the intersection without fault. The motorcycle driven by Sam Singletary, 47, approaching from the opposite end of the intersection, collided with the pick-up. Singletary died as a result of the injuries sustained in the crash.

Leonard, is charged with driving while intoxicated, open container, and possession of a drug related object.
