Friends of the Public Library to present 24th Annual Library Play

AMERICUS — The 2013 Library Theater Event will be Saturday and Sunday. This year’s play, Tales from the Gladiator Court,” is written by Kim Fuller. Join us as four friends are treated to a weekend at the Gladiator Court in Panama City Beach, Fla. The accommodations are not quite what they expect, nor are the wacky employees they meet.

In a change from the last few years, the event has been reformatted. Saturday night will be a more casual event with heavy hors d’oeuvres, wine and coffee. The hors d’oeuvres will include shrimp from the coast, pork tenderloin, meat balls, sausage balls, cheese straws, a cheese board, wine, coffee and much more, including a selection of delicious desserts. The price for Saturday night is $20. per person and seating is on a first come, first served basis. The doors open at 7:30 p.m. The play begins at 8:15 p.m.

On Sundayt here will be homemade cookies, punch and coffee, and tickets are $5 each. The doors open at 2:30  p.m. and the play begins at 3 p.m.

The Friends of the Public Library will also be hosting silent auctions of items and popular services on both Saturday and Sunday. Each auction will end after intermission so that the winner can take the item home that day.

There are also several new cast members this year. Linda Erkhart, Dennie Larson, Tracy K. Law, Tim Lewis, Kevin Kwashnak and Meg Usrey join the familiar faces of Alma Chapman, Ellen Harris, Hope Henderson, Jane Hendrix and Bill Krenson.

This annual event is the major fundraiser for the Sumter County Friends of the Public Library.  All proceeds will benefit the library.  And remember…What happens at the Gladiator STAYS at the Gladiator!
