Madrigal Dinner to offer an evening of food, music, more

AMERICUS — The 23rd annual Madrigal Dinner, presented by Georgia Southwestern State University (GSW) and Best Western Plus Windsor Hotel, will be held Nov. 12-13 at the Best Western Plus Windsor Hotel in downtown. Dutch treat cocktails will be offered from 6-7 p.m. and dinner will begin at 7 p.m.

The GSW Chamber Singers will perform a cappella selections and some 16th century Renaissance madrigals as well as 20th century holiday selections. The GSW Brass Ensemble will also perform during the dinner.

There will be a contest for best period costume which will focus on the dining guests.

The evening dinner menu will include crusty bread, assorted cheeses and seasonal fruit and cream of squash soup. Entrées include a choice between baked pork loin stuffed with apples, nuts and raisins or Cornish hen with cranberry relish, and may be selected upon ticket purchase. Sides include roasted rosemary potatoes, broad beans and baby carrots with a ginger sauce, and dessert includes a baked custard with a walnut topping. Guests will receive a glass of wassail with their dinners.
