BOX SPRINGS — Georgia State Patrol (GSP) Post 10 was called out at 9:15 p.m. Friday to the intersection of Ga. Highway 355 and Dr. Brooks Road in Marion County where a one car accident resulted in a fatality.

The victim, 58 year old John Henry Warren, of Box Springs, was driving a 1991 Buick Park Avenue. The sedan was reported to be traveling at a high rate of speed and failed to stop at a stop sign.

According to GSP Sgt. Ed Odom’s reports, Warren went through the stop sign, traveled down into the north embankment and struck a “guy wire,” a tensioned cable  used to stabilize light poles. The vehicle came to an uncontrolled rest in a ditch, facing south, approximately 155 feet from the north edge of Dr. Brooks Road. Warren sustained multiple, severe injures from the crash and died instantly.
