Fuller receives multiples honors

INDIANAPOLIS — Millard Fuller may call Georgia home, but he’s also an honorary Secretary of State in Indiana. The honor was one of many received during a recent visit to Indianapolis by Fuller, founder of Habitat for Humanity and now the founder/president of The Fuller Center for Housing, based in Americus.

Fuller was in Indianapolis to receive the "Servant's Heart Award" from the People Helping People Network, which presents the award to “leaders who stand out by the nature of their commitment, integrity, and character to serve others with a Servant's Heart.”

"As we all strive to make a difference in our own communities, in our own ways, we could have no better mentor than someone who has transformed communities around the world. What a blessing Millard and Linda Fuller have been to so many. I am truly blessed, honored and inspired by his example of a ‘Servant's Heart’," said Jeff Cardwell, founder/president of the People Helping People Network.

"I have received many honors, but the Servant's Heart Award from the People Helping People Network is one that is truly special to me," Fuller said. “I know it comes from the hearts of many servants who serve daily through the People Helping People Network. I am humbled to be honored by so many great friends."

During the Servant’s Heart banquet, Fuller also received:

• The Honorary Secretary of State distinction from Indiana Secretary of State, Todd Rokita.

• Recognition from the state, with Sen. Brent Waltz presenting a copy of a state resolution saluting Fuller for receiving the Servant’s Heart Award.

• A key to the City of Southport, Ind., from Mayor Nannette Tunget.

• A key to the city of Beech Grove, Ind., from Mayor Joe Wright.

• A certificate of achievement from Marion County Sheriff Frank Anderson.
