Church seeks help in repairing fallen entrance wall

Richland — Pastor Sheila Williams of House of Praise Holiness Church in Richland and other church members are seeking help in repairing the church entrance wall, which fell last month on Nov. 8.

“It fell at 4 a.m. Monday morning, and I discovered it at 7 a.m. the next day,” said Williams.

Williams had received a call from one of the elders at the church who asked her to come to the church to see the damage.

“The building had been there so long and the wood had rotted so that when the last bad storm came through, it just took it down,” said Williams.

Not only did the wall to the church’s entrance fall, it also cracked the neighboring wall on the opposite side, which had been joined with the same woodwork. Church members now enter the building from a doorway that is far away from the designated entrance. The cost to fix the entrance wall and the opposite wall together is estimated at $8,000.

“There’s just a few of us, so we need some help,” said Williams of the church’s efforts to raise funds for wall repairs. “We have been doing yard sales and barbecues to try and raise some money. Depending on the weather, we’ll have a yard sale this Saturday.” The yard sale will be held from 8 a.m.-noon at the church.

“We believe with the help of the people, we will get it done,” said Williams. “Thank you for any help that you give, and any donations that you send. Pray for us. We appreciate any help, and if there’s anything we can do to help other churches, contact us and we’ll do our best to help. We are helpers, one to another.”

For more information, or to make a donation, call Sheila Williams 229-591-9602 or write to the church at P.O. Box 208 Richland GA 31825.
