Coleman family donates proceeds from first Ryno 5K to Rosalynn Carter Institute

AMERICUS — Named in his memory, the Ryan Coleman Foundation recently donated the proceeds of the first annual Ryno 5K to Georgia Southwestern State University’s Rosalynn Carter Institute for Caregiving (RCI). Having served as RCI data manager prior to his passing in July 2012, the mission of the Rosalynn Carter Institute was very dear to Coleman’s heart.

The Ryan Coleman Foundation was established by his family to honor Ryan’s memory and support causes that were important to him. Held on what would have been Coleman’s 40th birthday – Nov. 23, 2013 – the Ryno 5K raised $3,000. Coleman’s parents Johnny and Barbara Coleman recently visited the RCI and Executive Director Leisa Easom, Ph.D., to present her with a check for the ongoing support for the RCI Care-Net Coalition and recognition of outstanding “Caregivers of the Year.”

“Ryan was such a caring and generous man,” said Easom. “It is with great honor that we remember him and celebrate his life through the Ryno 5K and hope to do so for years to come.”

Plans for the 2nd annual Ryno 5K are under way now. It is scheduled for Saturday, Nov. 15, 2014, and the course will again run on Georgia Southwestern’s campus. For additional information, email
