Ga. Southewstern alumni hold forum

AMERICUS — The Georgia Southwestern State University (GSW) SABU (Serviceable, Adaptable, Beautiful and United) organization presented a collaborative Alumni Forum of former graduates of the University on Nov. 13. The theme of the forum was “Preserving the Past for a Better Future.”

The forum was collaborated with the GSW Gospel Choir and the African American Male Institute (AAMI) and was well attended by GSW faculty, staff and students. The panelists gave vivid description of their college experiences and encouraged the students to always do their best. They related that if any of the students needed them that they would be a phone call away. The University is very proud of the outstanding contributions that GSW alumni have made to the Americus and Sumter County community.

The panel consisted of the following GSW and SABU alumni: Sarah Morgan-Pride, Arthur Young, Miranda Thomas and Irene Foster.

The SABU organization consists of the following officers: Jahryan Andrews, president; Quintavois Sims, vice president; Iesha Carson, secretary; Rachel Ochieng, treasurer; Jasmine Fields, parliamentarian and Jasmine McLeggan, historian. Karl Wilson is the founder of SABU; Pam Leverett is advisor and Alma Keita is co-advisor.
