DAYTONA BEACH — Funeral arrangements for Betty Ruth Smith, who died Friday in Daytona Beach, will be announced by Hancock Funeral Home.

ELLAVILLE — Mr. Thomas R. (Dickie) Owen, age 50, of 410 Perry Drive, Ellaville, died Thursday afternoon, Aug. 30, 2007 at Phoebe Putney Memorial Hospital in Albany. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., today, Sept. 2, 2007, at Ebenezer Baptist Chuch, with burial to follow in Ebenezer Cemetery. The Rev. Andy Taunton, the Rev. Graton Helms and Pat Taylor will officiate.

Mr. Owen was born Feb. 1, 1957 in Sumter County, the son of the late Hilton and Daisy Owen. Mr. Owen was a salesman at Kings Custom Builders. He was a member of Jenkinsburg United Methodist Church.

Survivors include one son, Eric Owen, one stepson, Keith Skipper, one stepdaughter, Candice Skipper; two sisters and brother-in-law, Patricia Ann Icard, LaVerne and Bobby Usry all of Ellaville. Several nieces and nephews also survive. Mr. Owen was preceded in death by a brother, Hilton Eugene Owen Jr.

Active pallbearers will be Steve Taylor, Rodney Usry, Richard Taylor, Bob Lockhart, Fred Renfroe, Justin Renfroe and Kenny Martin. Honorary pallbearers include Bobby Kirk and Rusty Taylor.

Visitation was held from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 1, 2007 at Watson-Giddens Funeral Home in Ellaville.
