Jack Deriso

AMERICUS— Mr. Jack Deriso, 82, of Americus died early Tuesday morning, Sept. 11, 2007 at Magnolia Manor Nursing Center.

Graveside funeral services will be held at 2 p.m., Thursday, Sept. 13 at Sunset Memorial Gardens with the Rev. Frank Kirkland officiating.

Mr. Deriso, a native of Schley County, was born Nov. 26, 1924, a son of the late Robert Michael Deriso and the late Jessie Floyd Carter Deriso. He was a farmer, a member of M.B. Council Lodge No. 13 F&AM, past president of Shriners-Al Sihah, chairman of the Board of Education for 12 years, past member of the Americus Rotary Club, was on the Board of Directors of the Sumter Livestoc k Association and past member of the Board of Registrars. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving during WWII and a recipient of the Purple Heart. Mr. Deriso was a member of Pleasant Grove Baptist Church.

A visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 12 at Greg Hancock Funeral Chapel. Memorial contributions may be made to First Christian Church, Building Fund, 118 Taylor Street, Americus, GA 31709 or to Southland Academy Endowment Fund, P. O. Box 1127, Americus, GA 31709.

Survivors include his wife, Lorena Cox Deriso of Americus; one daughter and son-in-law, Peggy and George Roquemore of Americus; one son and daughter-in-law, Jack Michael Deriso and Lisa of Panama City, Fla.; one step-daughter and step-son-in-law, Susan and Charles Cowart of Leary; two step-sons and one step-daughter-in-law, Patrick and Valerie Duff of Americus and Gordon Duff of Tifton and one brother, W. P. Deriso of Arcadia, Fla. One niece, Betty Deriso Pope of Americus, grandchildren, Holly and Ryan Bickel and George Holland “Rocky” Roquemore Jr.; great-grandchildren Carter Holland Bickel and Jay Michael Deriso; step-grandchildren, Jessica and Daniel Lopez, Frances Duff, Jake and Susannah Cowart, Charlie and Stefanie Cowart, Cathleen and Keven Gilbert and Matt Duff; step-great-grandchildren, Vincent Stockton, Ethan Akins and Zoe Lopez also survive.

AMERICUS — Funeral arrangements for the late Mrs. Nettie Scott who passed on Tuesday, Sept. 11 in the Columbus Medical Center of Columbus are incomplete and will be announced later date by Barnum Funeral Home.
