Marvin E. Usry: January 28, 2014

ELLAVILLE — Mr. Marvin Eugene (Bubba) Usry died Tuesday, Jan, 28, 2014, at Phoebe Putney Hospital in Albany. A memorial service is planned for 11 a.m. Saturday, Feb.1, 2014, at Concord United Methodist Church with the Rev. Tom Teate officiating. Burial will follow in the Ellaville Cemetery.

Mr. Usry was born Sept. 7, 1934, in Schley County to J.L.B. Usry Jr. and Thelma Willis Usry. He was a mechanical engineer with General Telephone Co., served in the U.S. Army as a paratrooper, was a member of the American Legion Post 191, served on the Boy Scout Ministerial board and the Ellaville-Schley Counyty Historical Society board. Mr. Usry was an avid golfer.

Mr. Usry was preceded in death by his wife Mrs. Peggy Usry in April 2012, two brothers Mr. Harold Usry, Mr. Calvin Usry and one sister Mrs. Theodosial Ybarra.

Mr. Usry is survived by a son and daughter-in-law Michael and Bobbie Kaye Usry of Brandon Fla.; two grandchildren, Erica Usry and Alex Michael Usry; one brother and sister-in-law Bobby and Laverne Usry of Ellaville; four sisters and one brother-in-law, Mildred Dobbs of Ellaville, Jean Hancock of Americus, Katherine Thomas of Americus and Brenda Todd and husband Dan of Ellaville. Several nieces and nephews also survive.

Visitation will be heldfrom 6-8 p.m.  Friday, Jan. 31, 2014, at Watson-Giddens Funeral Home in Ellaville. In lieu of flowers ,donations can be made to Concord Methodist Church, 500 Bridges Store Road, Ellaville GA 31806.
