Published October 11, 2008 09:32 pm - A letter from Ms. Sievart recently was nice, but perhaps doesn't reflect the opinion of a lot readers. True, local news is interesting and helpful. However, I like to know what's going on in other communities and around the entire country. I would grow tired and frustrated with "local only" news as I am interested and inquisitive about a very great variety of issues and don't want to miss or be sheltered from knowledge.

A letter from Ms.

Many of us have friends and family elsewhere about whom we are concerned, and the news should give us information that would lead us to know something about what they may be dealing with or affected by.

For instance, what was the discovery made by law enforcement or forensic specialists in the case of the child's severed leg/foot brought to a home in North Georgia by the family dog? Who is actually owner of the Sumter Regional Hospital? What happened to the expensive equipment and where is it now? Is it now being used, or can it be used in the future? What happened in the County employees designated holiday, referring to Veterans Day?

Thank you for local coverage and information from all points.
