The official findings from the ghost tracking Sunday night at the Windsor Hotel won’t be available for a few days, but there was a sighting of at least one ghost, Betty Davis of Big Bend Ghost Trackers said Monday.
The trackers said they saw an image of the late Floyd Lowery that evening on the third floor.
Lowery was an African-American bellman who worked at the hotel over 40 years. His uniform was found in a wall safe at the hotel in 1991 when the hotel was being renovated, and “Floyd’s Pub” at the Windsor is named in his honor. Christiane Grune, the Windsor’s marketing director, said the honor was ironic because it was reported that Lowery never took a drink in his life.
The six ghost investigators from Tallahassee said Sunday night at Windsor that the vast majority of ghosts are friendly, but there are some evil ones.
One of the ghost trackers said she tries her best not to go into a building or location where she feels there are evil spirits. She carries spiritual items including a crucifix, rosary beads and holy water on ghost hunts in case she unexpectedly encounters an evil spirit.
The trackers said sometimes a ghost lingers in this world because there’s a particular place or location he or she loves and doesn’t want to leave.
Or sometimes people die so quickly and unexpectedly they don’t realize they are dead and just linger in this world, the trackers said.
Big Bend Ghost Trackers said they don’t worry about those who call them crazy, and they aren’t trying to prove anything to the world. No amount of proof is going to change the mind of a nonbeliever, they added, so they don’t even try.
