Americus Post 2 baseball team wins 17-U title

AMERICUS — Americus Post 2 came home from Loganville with the 17-and-under American Legion State championship on Monday.
The team met Loganville in the championship bracket. After an 8-7 loss on Sunday, it bounced back to record 15 hits and win the decisive game 13-1 in five innings.
Luke Teasley pitched all five innings and was one of six players who mad multiple hits. The others were: Jimbo Horne, Jake Griffith, Landon Hobgood, Zach Pouliot and Luke Alexander. Jonathon Gilliam also picked off two baserunners with the bases loaded.
“They fought back after losing a heartbreaker on Sunday,” said assistant coach Brad Herrington. “We came back on Monday with some extra motivation and took care of business.”
Americus Post 2 beat Loganville and Alpharetta in the first two games of the tournament by scores of 3-2 and 12-2. It finished the season with a 19-8 record.
The team is made up of players from Americus-Sumter, Southland Academy, Schley County and Marion County.
