Chamber Concert Series
Georgia Southwestern State University has announced its 2011-2012 Chamber Concert Series: Sept. 19 - Georgia Guitar Quartet, Oct. 4 - Tiberius String Quartet, Nov. 3 - Joe Chapman, piano "An Evening of Franz Liszt,” Jan. 19 - Alfonzo Lopez, violin and Michelle Tabor, piano, Feb. 9 - Ensemble Chaconne, "European Masters in 18th c. London," Feb. 27 - Roger Chase, viola and Michiko Otaki, piano. All performances begin at 7:30 p.m. at GSW's Jackson Performance Hall. Season tickets for all concerts are available: adults/$45, GSW faculty and staff/$40, senior citizens/$35 and Habitat for Humanity volunteers/$25. Pasaquan, the world-renowned visionary art site located near Buena Vista, is open on the first Saturday of each month through November. Open days for 2011 are Oct. 1 and Nov. 5. Wildl Game Dinner/Auction
Chehaw Council presents the 19th Annual Wild Game Dinner Hunt and Auction at 5:30 p.m. Oct. 11 at the Potter Community Center. This event is the largest fundraiser annually for the Chehaw Council Boy Scouts of America. The Chehaw Council covers 17 counties of Southwest Georgia. Cost per person ticket is $40. Table sponsorships are available.
Menu items include wild game sausages, pheasant and Rrce, fried and grilled quail, venison, prairie chicken, barbecued pork, Brunswick stew, corn on the cob and more. Auction items include plantation hunts of deer, dove, turkey and quail; top-grade clothing and apparel, high-quality guns, lawn equipment and more.
