Jimmy Buffet cover band to play Friends of Rylander Gala

AMERICUS — Your search for that lost shaker of salt is over! Saturday, January 21st the Rylander is being transformed into Margaritaville as the Friends of the Rylander Theatre present Sons of Sailors, a Jimmy Buffett cover band. Each year the Friends of the Rylander Theatre hold a Fundraising Gala with a different theme. Last year’s performance of Almost Elton John had patrons singing and dancing in the aisles. This year’s theme is a January Beach Party. Patrons are encouraged to dress up like they would for a real Jimmy Buffett concert—which means it is time to break out that wild and colorful Hawaiian shirt or grass skirt. Buffett fans are known as Parrotheads and several will be out in full force on Saturday night. There will be a raffle featuring prizes from area artists and businesses. Winners will be announced during the performance. There will also be a Tiki Bar featuring beer and wine that will open at 7pm and the band will take the stage at 8pm.

Sons of Sailors are a talented group of musicians who have been playing all of those “Songs You Know by Heart” and many other classic rock favorites for almost 30 years. They got their start in Athens, GA where they could play a different club every night of the week. The guys have seen their share of concert stages, cruise liners, and honky tonks as their music has taken them to the Caribbean, Alabama, Florida, the Carolinas, and all over Georgia. Patrons are encouraged to leave their favorite Buffett requests on the Rylander Theatre Facebook page. Tickets are $25 Reserved Seating and are on sale in the Box Office Tuesday—Friday, 11am—4pm or onlin
