AMERICUS — Big difference in now and how it used to be

I read the letter Coach Shell’s daughter wrote and thought what a difference there is in our school system. Both of my brothers and I graduated at Plains High School. Our two daughters graduated at Americus High School and continued their education at South Georgia Tech. One of my grandsons was an Honor Student and at Americus High. He is presently attending South Ga. Tech.

The reason I write this is to let people know how much I care for Sumter County schools. There is no reason for our school board to act as they do. The future of our children and grand-children is at stake. These children are our future leaders. There is nothing to be gained by teaching the children to hate and kill. We need God and the Bible back in our schools.

May God bless us and guide us.

God has His

expectations of us

We humans are created in God's image, which come with his expectations of how we conduct ourselves. God didn't create Adam, and Eve to sin, but because of his justice, he made provision to save them from their sins. We as parents knows that our children has the capacity to do good, and also to do evil, but we hope they will do what right, if we have taught them right. There are two sides to the word expectation, one is positive, and the other is negative. But it seem like throughout the world, negative expectations are expected. We all have heard of the track, and there are certain expectations of the inhabitants on either side. Ethnicity, and culture, plays a major role in the expected attitudes. There was in the past this feel of apathy, among both blacks, and whites, of the hostile environment which blacks lived in then, and also today. The majority of black churches, and Clergy, expect blacks to fight, raise hell among themselves, and also to murder each other. They are expected to have babies out of wedlock, and abort babies in abortion, quit school, use drugs, and impregnate silly girls, and women, and abandon the children. This indictment is very true of the majority of white churches, and their Clergy. I do not see any of these churches, or Clergy physically working in these communities to encourage them to live different, to free themselves from the negative expectations, and connect with the spiritual ones which Jesus died, and was resurrected to give us the ability to do it. Philippians 4: 13 say, I can do all thing through Christ, who give me the power. The world will never change, if the Church, and the Christians don't change it. Shalom.
