State News: 3 Ga. university presidents to get raises

ATLANTA —

Higher education officials say three university presidents in Georgia will get raises as the public university system deals with $300 million in state budget cuts.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports that University of Georgia President Michael Adams' deferred compensation package will rise from $150,000 to $200,000.

Officials say the increase, effective July 1, will give Adams a total compensation package of $660,318 — making him the system's highest-paid president. The $660,318 includes salary, housing and other allowances.

University system spokesman John Millsaps said Albany State University President Everette Freeman and Fort Valley State University President Larry Rivers will see their total compensation packages increase from $198,456 to $225,000.
