Semi truck overturns at Highway 280 and 27

AMERICUS — A truckload of fertilizer headed for Hawkinsville turned onto its side and spilled its load at about 4 p.m. Monday at the intersection of U.S. Highway 280 East and Ga. Highway 27 East in Americus. The truck appeared to have been making a left turn from 280 onto 27 when the incident occurred. No other vehicles were involved.

At the scene, the driver of the truck appeared to be fine but was taken away in an ambulance. As rain began to fall and a front-end loader was gathering up the fertilizer from the roadway, a Wilson wrecker was preparing to right the truck. More details will be available on this website as they become available.
