Acclaimed columnist to speak at Kiwanis


Famous Southern columnist Dick Yarbrough will be speaking at the Americus Kiwanis Club Friday at the invitation of the Americus Times-Recorder.

Best known for his syndicated columns about everything from politics to family to life’s little annoyances, Yarbrough is also a highly sought public speaker and author of two books, And They Call Them Games, an insider’s account of the 1996 Centennial Olympics in Atlanta, and Squirrels at the Birdfeeder, a compilation of his most popular columns.

Yarbrough is a Georgia native and a 1959 graduate of the University of Georgia. He spent 40 years working in the fields of business and public relations before moving on to becoming one of the South’s favorite humorists.
