Call for Nominees: The Rosalynn Carter Institute seeks nominations for the 2008 Georgia Caregiver of the Year awards. Awards are given in the categories of family caregiver, para-professional caregiver and volunteer caregiver. The winners in each category will be recognized at the Annual Awards Banquet in October and receive a check for $1,000. Outdoor Watering Ban: City of Americus residents living north of Lamar Street are allowed to water outisde Monday, Wednesday and Saturday while those living south of Lamar Street can water Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday. Outdoor watering is allowed only between midnight and 10 a.m. Watering between 10 a.m. and midnight is prohibited.
Registration: Registration for the Easter Morning unit of Sumter County Boys & Girls Clubs after-school program is from 10 a.m. -2 p.m. through Friday. Call 924-0414 for more information.
Blood Drive: South Georgia Technical Colleges hosts a blood drive from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. today in Hicks Hall on the Americus campus. Donors are required to have photo ID.
DFCS Board: The Sumter County Department of Family & Children Services board meets at 5 p.m. today at Sumter County DFCS, 502-A S. Lee St. The meting is open to the public.
Lunch ‘n’ Learn: Sumter Regional Hospital’s Lunch ‘n’ Learn series presents Building a Budget at noon today at the Habitat for Humanity Devotions Room, at Habitat’s headquarters on the corner of Lamar and Hampton. Mark Grimes, director of Education at Sumter Regional Hospital, teaches the program, which addresses the basic components of a household budget, learning to track and estimate expenses, and techniques for holding to guidelines set by your family budget. He will also allot time for a question and answer session. Attendees are encouraged to bring a lunch and eat during the program, which will begin at approximately 12:10 p.m. There is no fee and registration is not required. Democratic Meeting: The Sumter County Democratic Committee meets at 5 p.m. today at the Stein Center, Cotton Avenue. All interested parties are invited.
