Americus
Outdoor Watering Ban: City of Americus residents living north of Lamar Street are allowed to water outside Monday, Wednesday and Saturday while those living south of Lamar Street can water Tuesday, Thursday and Sunday. Outdoor watering is allowed only between midnight and 10 a.m. Watering between 10 a.m. and midnight is prohibited.

Re-Grand Opening: The Americus-Sumter County Chamber of Commerce hosts a grand re-opening and ribbon cutting for the Salvation Army at 10 a.m. today at the new location, 204 N. Prince St. The public is invited.
CASA Training: Recognizing the need for trained and supervised volunteers to help with abused and neglected children, the Court Appointed Special Advocate program has scheduled a volunteer training program. The CASA program covers the Southwest Judicial Circuit (Lee, Macon, Schley, Stewart, Sumter and Webster counties). The training begins at 5:30 p.m. today at the Rosalynn Carter Institute located on the campus of Georgia Southwestern State University. Committee Meeting: The Property Committee of the Sumter County Board of Education meets at 5:30 p.m. today prior to the regular meeting. The committee meeting is also open to the public.
Board of Education: The Sumter County Board of Education meets at 6 p.m. today in the board meeting room of the Sumter County Schools administration building, 100 Learning Lane for a closed session, followed by the regular meeting at 7 p.m. which is open to the public.
Authority Meeting: The regular quarterly meeting of the Schley-Sumter-Macon Joint Development Authority is at 4 p.m. today at the Rees Park Economic Development Center, 409 Elm Ave., in the upstairs conference room. The meeting is open to the public.
