What a joy it is to pick up the Americus Times-Recorder since your new reporter, Becky Holland, has come on board! The T-R was a good paper before. With Ms. Holland’s communicative talents, it has taken on a different look with all the common stories about ordinary people. We live in a medium-sized community with several industries and factories, but we are a family-oriented community. We don't need all the stories from around the world to make our paper a newspaper; we can find that news on television and the computer. It is evident that she has made a change with the numerous local tidbits, including the pictures of children, that have made your pages.

My friends and I enjoy reading her column on Tuesday on the opinion page. It is fun, it is light, and if you read between the lines, there is a message for young and old alike. I think her newcomer perspective has given the traditional pieces a new look as well. I like reading about the jobs people do in our community. I applaud her for her bravery in speaking to children and young people so they can have a voice as well. Bravo to you and the publisher for bringing Ms. Holland on staff.

She is a breath of fresh air!
