Called Meeting: The Sumter County Board of Commissioners has a called meeting at 8:30 a.m. today in the Commissioners’ Meeting Room at the new Sumter County Courthouse, 500 W. Lamar St, when the Board will discuss communication equipment for Sumter County and any other items brought properly before the Board.

Reunion Meeting: The Sumter County Comprehensive High School Class of 1995 has a reunion meeting at 5:30 p.m. Saturday at 915 Elmo St. All classmates are encouraged to attend.

Cane Syrup Day: Jimmy Carter National Historic Site celebrates Cane Syrup Day, Saturday which highlights cane syrup making in the “good ole days.” Demonstrations are between 11 a.m. and 3 p.m. and include cane stripping, cane squeezing, syrup making, corn shelling and blacksmithing. Plan to visit the Boyhood Farm at Jimmy Carter National Historic Site for Cane Syrup Day and experience what life was like in the 1930s. There is no charge for this event or to visit the Jimmy Carter National Historic Site.
