Valentine Gala: Books for Sumter Children hosts its annual gala Friday at the Griffin Bell Conference Center. Chamber Concert Series: Georgia Southwestern State University is having its 2013-2014 Chamber Concert Series. This year marks the 35th season of the series. Included are Kontras Quartet — 7:30 p.m. Feb. 25; Albany Symphony featuring GSW, Albany State and Darton College Choirs, “Evening of Italian Opera” — 3 p.m. April 13, at Rylander Theatre. All performances take place in GSW’s Jackson Performance Hall, unless otherwise noted. Season tickets for all concerts are available: adults $45, GSW faculty and staff $40, senior citizens $35, and Habitat for Humanity volunteers $25.
