Bike Adventure: The annual Prison to Peanuts Bicycle Adventure with stops in historic Plains and Andersonville is Saturday, May 3. The ride begins in downtown Americus at Lenny’s Market. Registration begins at 7 a.m. Four routes are available: 13, 34, 65 and 108 miles. The 65- and 108-mile rides begin at 8 a.m. with the other routes starting at 9 a.m. There will be additional rest stops at Ellaville, Leslie and Smithville. Plant Sale: Sumter County Federation of Garden Clubs hosts irs annual Plant Sale from 8:30 a.m.-noon Saturday, May 3 at the American Legion Building, North Martin Luther King Jr. Boulevard (U.S. HIghway 19 North). All plants are locally grown.
Tour of Homes: The Terrell County Historic Preservation Society’s 21st annual Tour of Homes is May 3. The tour includes four properties in Dawson and three in Sasser. Local merchants in both towns featuring antiques and memorabilia will also be open. Tour headquarters is at the historic Terrell County Chamber of Commerce building at Ga. Highway 520 and Lee Street. Tour hours are 10 a.m.-4 p.m. The Terrell County Museum will also be open. Tickets, brochures and soft drinks for sale will be available in front of the Chamber building May 3. Pre-sale tickets are $12.50/adults and $6/children under 12.
