Budget Meeting: At the beginning of the regularly scheduled meeting of the Sumter County Board of Education at 7 p.m. today, the Board will discuss the FY 2015 Tentative Budget. During this discussion, the Board may seek input from community stakeholders. The meeting is open to the public.
Bike to Work Day: The annual Bike to Work Day is Friday. An energizing station with free snacks and coffee will be set up from 6:30-9 a.m. at the Russell R. Thomas Jr. Public Safety Building for people who ride their bikes to work. At noon Mayor Barry Blount leads the annual Ride with the Mayor followed by a free pizza party at Rylander Park. Train Event: In celebration of National Railroad Day, Saturday, the Jimmy Carter National Historic Site, partnering with the Flint River Model Railroad Club and the North American Railcar Operators Association host an event from 11 a.m.-3 p.m.,- at the Plains Depot. Exhibits and displays include model trains and full-size working railcars.
