Corn Meeting: Sumter County farmers are invited to a Corn Production Meeting at 6:30 p.m. Jan. 10 at the Sumter County Agricultural Center, 127 William Bowen Pointe. Farmers may earn private and commercial pesticide credit for attending this production meeting. A sponsored meal will be provided so please call 924-4476 to sign up if you plan to attend.

School Board: The Sumter County Board of Educationmeets at 7 p.m. Jan. 10 at the Sumter County Schools’ administration building, 100 Learning Lane. The meeting is open to the public.

Library Board: The Sumter County Library Board of Trustees holds its quarterly meeting at 6 p.m. Thursday at Lake Blackshear Regional Library, 307 E. Lamar St. The meeting is open to the public.

 

Free Classes: Lake Blackshear Regional Library offers Internet for Beginners at 11 a.m. Jan. 12 and iPad for Beginners at 11 a.m. Jan. 19. Each class lasts an hour. All classes are free and open to the public on a first come, first served basis. Stop by the library at 307 E. Lamar St., call 924-8091 or visit lbrls.org for more information.

Senior Caregiver Support: Innovative Senior Solutions hosts a monthly senior caregiver support group meeting on the third Thursday of every month. All meetings will be held at the ISS ADH Center located at 721-A Felder St. Next meeting is at 5:30 p.m. Jan. 17. Guest speaker is Bennie Ridley on diabetic foot care and shoes. Servsafe® Training: Servsafe® Training for Food Service Employees is Jan. 28 at the Sumter County Agricultural Center, 127 William Bowen Point. Pre-registration is required. Cost is $15. Call 924-4476.

Chamber Concert Series: Georgia Southwestern State University (GSW) has announced its 2012-2013 Chamber Concert Series —  Jan. 29 – Manhattan Piano Trio; Feb. 12 – Graffe String Quartet with Michiko Otaki, piano and April 8 – Sima Trio. All performances will take place at 7:30 p.m. in GSW’s Jackson Performance Hall, unless otherwise noted. Tickets available and can be purchased at the door.
