G.R.E.A.T.: The Americus Police Department invites all parents to sing up their children for the annual G.R.E.A.T. summer prohram. The cost is $50 per child and is for ages 7-16. The program runs June 9-July 18. Call Sgt. J. Brown at 924-3677 or 591-6432 for information.

Free Program: As part of Alzheimer's & Brain Awareness Month, Innovative Senior Solutions presents The Basics of Alzheimer’s, an education program by the Alzheimer’s Association at 5:30 p.m. June 19 at 721-A Felder St. Space is limited; call 229-928-3673 to register. If you or someone you know is affected by Alzheimer’s disease or dementia, it’s time to learn the facts. This program provides information on detection, causes and risk factors, stages of the disease, treatment and more. Alzheimer's disease is not a normal part of aging. Servsafe® Training:  Servsafe® Training for Food Service Managers is June 23-24. Pre-registration is required by June 6. Cost is $140. Call 924-4476 for information or stop by the Sumter County Extension Office.


Family Reunion: Plans are currently being made for a family reunion for the Johnson, Tyner and Gary families July 18-20, 2014 in Atlanta. For more information, call Marcus Johnson at 229-942-5102 or Arthur Johnson at 229-894-2518.

Urgent Need: Harvest of Hope Food Pantry is in need of plastic bags (regular Walmart or grocery store size). The pantry always need plastic bags but during the spring they need extra. They can sometimes use 3,000 bags in one day! They are at the pantry on  McGarrah Street from 8:30-10:30 a.m. Mondays and  7:30-11:30 a.m. Tuesdays.


Grief Support: "You Are Not Alone" Grief Support Group for Bereaved Parents meets at 7 p.m. June 10 in the Preston Baptist Church Fellowship Hall.
