Authority Meetings: The Americus-Sumter County Industrial Development Authoritymeets at 4 p.m. Tuesday at the Rees Park Economic Development Center, 409 Elm Ave. in the second-floor conference room. The Americus-Sumter County Payroll Development Authority meets immediately following the IDA meeting. Both are open to the public.
Toys for Tots: The Georgia State Patrol is helping the Marine Corps Reserve Toys for Tots program collect toys to make Christmas brighter for needy children. Through Dec. 8, you may drop off a new, unwrapped toy at the Georgia State Patrol Post 10 located at 113 William Bowen Pointe between 8 a.m.-4 p.m. Monday-Friday. The following businesses have generously agreed to have a Toys for Tots toy box placed in their facilities for collection of donated toys: Plains Dollar Store; The Dollar General Stores on Ga. Highway 30, in the Perlis Plaza, and on U.S. Highway 19; the UPS Store; Walgreens; Winn Dixie; Harvey’s Super Market; Lowe’s; Christie’s Farm and Ranch on Felder Street; Fusion ATV & RV’s on the corner of Felder Street and Brady Road.
Helping Seniors: Innovative Senior Solutions (ISS) and Sumter County Elementary School (SCES) Beta Club have partnered to give back to the elderly in our community. During this holiday season, ISS and SCES Beta Club are collecting items to create gift baskets to share withsSeniors through Dec.13. The following items are needed: blankets, socks, gloves, hats, t-shirts, soap, lotion, shampoo, perishable foods, gift card, and crossword puzzles and word-search. Donation sites are: 124-B W. Lamar St. (downtown Americus across from the Windsor Hotel) and 721-A Felder St., Americus.
