Ms. Laurie Elizabeth Hargrove, 87, passed away on Monday evening, December 29, at Lillian G. Carter Health & Rehab Center in Plains.

Funeral services were held at 2:00 PM on Thursday, January 1, 2015, from the graveside at Oak Grove Cemetery, with Rev. Rusty Mauldin and Rev. Keith Parks officiating

The family received friends from 1:00 until 1:45 PM on Thursday at Hancock Funeral Home, 427 S. Lee St.

Born February 26, 1927 in Sumter County, she was a daughter of the late William Archibald Hargrove and Ethel Alston Hargrove.

A graduate of Georgia Southwestern College, Bessie Tift College, Morris Business College, and LaSalle Extension University of Chicago, Ms. Hargrove was retired after 30 years practicing general law in Americus. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Americus, where she taught Sunday School and played the organ until her eyesight failed, and was a member of Benevolence Sunday School Class.

Survivors include her sister, Charlotte R. Hargrove of Americus; and nine nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by two brothers, W.A. Hargrove, Jr. and Alston J. Hargrove and by two sisters, Doris Ann Wagener and Jane Ethel Harris.
