PLAINS — Mrs. Dorothy Whitely Anderson, 88, passed away on Tuesday evening, Jan. 6, 2015, at Lillian G. Carter Health and Rehab in Plains.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, Jan. 9, from the gravside at Lebanon Cemetery in Plains, with the Rev. Jim Jewell officiating.

Born Aug. 9, 1926, in Ashaway, R.I., she was a daughter of the late Charles Edwin and Flora B. Whitely. Mrs. Anderson was a home maker and a member of Sherwood Baptist Church in Albany where she was in the Friendship Sunday School class.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas Durelle Anderson.

Survivors include four children: Thomas D. amd Virginia Anderson of Bricktown, N.J., Charles E. Anderson of Tokyo, Japan, Betty A. Reynolds of Albany, and Steve and Lorie Anderson of Leesburg; seven grandchildren: Thomas Anderson III of Bricktown, N.J., Christine Anderson of Bricktown, N.J., Chris and Sheila Reynolds of St. Louis, Mo., Karen and Ling Chen of Graham, Wash., Mary and Paul Roberson of Parrott, Elizabeth Anderson of Atlanta and Mary Clare and Matt Kane of Atlanta; 10 great-grandchildren: Zamemian TenEyck, Anna Roberson, Brandon Roberson, Slade Anderson, Colt Anderson, Casey Chen, Emily Chen, Chase Cooper, Chad Cooper and Lecil Gohman; two sisters: Dora Hirst of Westerly, R.I., and Ethel Sieg of Palm Harbor, Fla.; two sisters-in-law: Eunice Griggs of Plains and Carol Anderson of Plains; and several nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Meet The Need Program, Sherwood Baptist Church, 2201 Whispering Pines Road, Albany GA 31707.
